SonataPalooza I – Vol. II

The latest installment of SonataPalooza I. Recorded at Baldwin Wallace Conservatory over the course of four, closely scheduled recitals in January 2019.

SonataPalooza I – Vol. I

The bold idea of the SonataPalooza is to combine SonatenAbends (multiple sonata evenings) in a way that is fun and unusual. The title, METTLE, the first of the paloozas, is intentional – to
describe the project’s scope (with fortitude, determination, and resolve) with the homonym wordplay of “metal.”

Contra Plagam

John Hearne wrote his original setting of Contra Plagam for chorus and piano in 2000, and it was first performed by voices of the National Youth Choir of Scotland at the Aberdeen International Youth Festival in 2008.

Fanfare Alone

Fanfare Alone is a collection of fanfares and solo pieces performed on the Schilke family of instruments, and written by composers of the 20th and 21st centuries – Christopher Buchenholz, Ornette Coleman, Brian Fennelly, Margi Griebling-Haigh, Alejandro Guarello, Kevin Johnson, Ryan Karr, Otto Ketting, David Loeb, Clint Needham, Philip deOliveira, Robert Pound, Morgan Powell, Ilana Rainero-deHaan, Jeffrey Rathbun, Paul Rudy, Jack Sutte and Stefan Wolpe.

BENT

BENT is dedicated to my entire family and all my teachers – it takes a village, love, and strong roots to grow. The word “bent” conjures images and meanings – of metal, tubing, images of sound waves, refracted light, and in highlighting a humanistic quality, a capacity of endurance, talent, inclination, determination, etc. I’m bent – all around.
